What are cookies?

A cookie is a small file containing a string of characters that is sent to your computer when you visit a website. When you visit the site again, the cookie allows that site to recognize your browser. Cookies may store user preferences and other information.

Cookies provide a convenience feature to save you time, or tell the Web server that you have returned to a specific page.

Cookies set by the website owner (in this case, CYPHER LEARNING) are called "first party cookies". Cookies set by parties other than the website owner are called "third party cookies". Third party cookies enable third party features or functionality to be provided on or through the website (e.g. like advertising, interactive content and analytics). The parties that set these third party cookies can recognise your computer both when it visits the website in question and also when it visits certain other websites.

Why do we use cookies?

We use cookies when you access some of our products and services. Cookies allow us, among other things, to authenticate and log you in, provide you with a personalized experience, and analyze how our websites and online services are performing.

What types of cookies do we use and how do we use them?

Here is an overview on the types of cookies we use for our websites and products.

Session details

These cookies help us authenticate you, keep you signed in, and personalize the services where you use websites and services with sign-in, such as for accessing our learning platforms. These cookies help us remember your settings and preferences and deliver a personalized experience even if you are not logged in. For example, we can store which language you prefer.

Analytics

We use third-party cookies such as Google Analytics and Hubspot to gather information about user activities and performance. This helps us analyze and improve the performance of our websites. It also lets us understand, improve, and research how our products and services are used and what type of devices you use to access them. The information we receive from these third-party providers is de-identified, meaning we cannot track it back to you. For Google Analytics we have enabled IP Anonymization to anonymize your IP address. Learn more about IP anonymization in Google Analytics.

Social Sharing

We use ShareThis buttons and cookies from Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and other social media services that allow you to share content via their services if you are a member and signed in. These social media companies may recognize you and collect information about your visit to our websites, and they may set cookies or employ other tracking technologies. Your interactions with those features are governed by the privacy policies of the social media companies. Please read their privacy statements and cookie policies to understand how they use your information.

Marketing and advertising

We use cookies from third parties like Google Analytics, Hubspot, and Hotjar to recognize you when you return to our websites and to understand which pages you visit. If you submit your information on our pages (such as in a web form), we will link this information to the information stored on the cookie. We use this information to personalize your experience on our websites and to make sure we are communicating with you in the most relevant way possible.

We also use third-party cookies from services such as Google Ads and Facebook Business, Twitter Ads, Instagram Ads, LinkedIn Ads, and more. This allows those services to show you relevant ads and campaigns from us in their environment when you previously visited one of our websites. We also receive information from some of these services about which of our ads or campaigns you have interacted with. Learn more about how we use these third-party cookies for online and interest-based advertising in our Privacy Policy.

How do I control cookies?

You have a variety of tools to control and opt out of cookies and similar technologies. For example, you can use browser controls to block and delete cookies. You can also use controls made available by some third-party analytics service providers to opt out of data collection through web beacons and similar technologies. In some browsers you can set your cookie preferences for each site, which means you can disable cookies in general but allow them for websites that you trust. Please remember that many of our services may not function properly if you disable cookies for our websites or services.

Learn more about the cookie settings for the most popular browsers:

For other browsers, visit the provider’s website. You should find this information by searching for "[browser name] cookie settings."

Blocking or deleting cookies does not delete Local Storage Objects (LSOs) such as Flash objects or HTML5. To manage Flash cookie settings and preferences, you must use the settings manager on Adobe’s website. If you choose to delete Flash objects from our Service, then you may not be able to access and use all or part of the Service or benefit from the information and services offered.

For information on how Google Analytics collects and processes data, as well as how you can control information sent to Google, review Google's site "How Google uses data when you use our partners' sites or apps". Learn more about Google Analytics' currently available opt-outs, including the Google Analytics Browser Add-On.

In addition, most advertising networks offer you a way to opt out of targeted advertising. If you would like to find out more information, please visit http://www.aboutads.info/choices/ or http://www.youronlinechoices.com. You may opt out by clicking here: http://preferences.truste.com/ (or if located in the European Union, by clicking here: http://www.youronlinechoices.eu/). Please note this does not opt you out of being served advertising. You will continue to receive generic advertisements.

Do you use Flash cookies or Local Shared Objects?

The Adobe Flash Player (and similar applications) use technology to remember settings, preferences and usage similar to browser cookies but these are managed through a different interface than the one provided by your Web browser. This technology creates locally stored objects that are often referred to as "Flash cookies." HubSpot does not use Flash cookies. However, our customers of our software platform may create pages on one of our platforms that employ Adobe Flash cookies. HubSpot does not have access or control over our customers' Flash cookies, but you may access your Flash management tools from Adobe's website directly here.

Similarly, our customers may create content or pages within our platforms that use technology from tracking utility companies, such as cookies and web beacons. The use of these technologies by our customers is not covered by our Cookie Policy or Privacy Policy. We do not have control over third party cookies or trackers our customers use.

Do you serve targeted advertising?

Third parties may serve cookies on your computer or mobile device to serve advertising through our Websites. These companies may use information about your visits to this and other websites in order to provide relevant advertisements about goods and services that you may be interested in. They may also employ technology that is used to measure the effectiveness of advertisements. This can be accomplished by them using cookies or web beacons to collect information about your visits to this and other sites in order to provide relevant advertisements about goods and services of potential interest to you. The information collected through this process does not enable us or them to identify your name, contact details or other personally identifying details unless you choose to provide these.

How often will you update this Cookie Policy?

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time in order to reflect, for example, changes to the cookies we use or for other operational, legal or regulatory reasons. We will notify you of any material changes to this Cookie Policy prior to the changes becoming effective by posting the changes on this page and providing a more prominent notice with on-site or email notifications. Please therefore re-visit this Cookie Policy regularly to stay informed about our use of cookies and related technologies.

Where can I get further information?

If you have any questions about our use of cookies or other technologies, please contact us.
